Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

September 24, 2007

So the most talked/blogged about topic for today is the visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Columbia University. Rather than post about the specifics, I am just going to highlight the topic. Here is a full article on the topic, Article. I choose not to go with AP or Reuters this time, but rather Al Jazeera. I just want to mention some major points, quotes, and a video of the opening remarks. I hope you check out the video it is a well articulated criticism of the Iranian President. Also, I wanted to share some stunning National Geographic photographs of Iran and Iranian life.

Major Points: He claims to be against nuclear arms, denies the holocaust (or at least calls for studying an alternative version), claims Iran does not have homosexuals, denies women are treated unequal, and blames almost anything he can on the US and George Bush (The same way George Bush will blame anything he does wrong on the Middle East). The similarities to George Bush become more apparent whenever either of the oblivious monsters speak, not to say I think George Bush is anywhere never as awful as the president of Iran.

Favorite Quotes:

“Mr President, you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator,” Lee Bollinger, Columbia University’s president

“In Iran we do don’t have homosexuals like in your country,” Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
